Thanks for checking out my portfolio. I am an engineer with a love of design, cooking, the outdoors, and much more that I don't have space to list out here. You can learn more below. Professionally, I am always looking for interesting projects, so reach out if you have one. You can email me at alec.t947@gmail.com, or message me on LinkedIn.

Heres a little more about me. I can be emailed at alec.t947@gmail.com, or messaged on LinkedIn.
My main points of interest are engineering design, coding, mechatronics, additive manufacturing, and manufacturing. I am always working to improve what I know and increase my technical proficiencies. By doing so, I become better able to pursue personal projects and tinker with ideas.
After having the opportunity to study abroad thanks to the Gilman Scholarhsip I have cultivated a love of travel, learning about different cultures, learning about new foods, and finding the best regional espresso. This is good since these relatively new interests complement my older interests of hiking, rock climbing, reading, cooking, coffee, and chess.
My best asset is my technical curiosity. I have never stopped learning and have no plans to stop. In the next five years, I need to be in a position that allows and encourages learning so I can become a better engineer. I want to take on as much responsibility as possible as that will facilitate the most growth possible. Put another way, I see myself in a senior engineering position with enough experience to mentor entry-level engineers.
One of the driving factors for me to pursue mechanical engineering was a desire to impact my community positively. Working in the medical field allows me to help design products that directly improve lives. Furthermore, I can be proud that the main focus of the medical industry is improving lives. I hope to be a part of the engineering team that makes the next breakthrough for medical devices, whatever form that may take.
Collaboration is how so many amazing devices have been produced in the modern era; I relish any opportunity to collaborate with others. While I work well independently, having a team to talk problems through or brainstorm new concepts is a great benefit. Furthermore, I have been lucky enough to work with people from around the globe. My time working in culturally and technically diverse teams has introduced me to a variety of different approaches to conflict resolution, study, work, and worker interaction. The main benefit of which I would say is the understanding that there is no one best approach.
